Latitude & Longitude Puzzle Map

A beautiful, hands-on introduction to the lines that map our world. This world map is a puzzle base that 72 reversible pieces fit into like a grid. The front of each piece shows that part of the world—continents and oceans—along with the major lines of latitude and longitude. Flip a piece over and its coordinates are printed on the back, so a child can match a piece to its place, or read a set of coordinates and hunt for where it belongs.

Use it on its own or alongside any geography curriculum to build a hands-on understanding of the Equator, Prime Meridian, hemispheres, the tropics, and the polar circles.

Choose Montessori colored continents, in the traditional continent colors, or black continents for a simpler, classic look.

Ways to use it:

• Match each piece to its place on the map, then flip it to check the coordinates on the back.
• Read a coordinate aloud and search for the piece it belongs to.
• Explore the hemispheres, the Equator and Prime Meridian, the tropics, and the polar circles.
• Sort the continents and trace the lines of latitude and longitude with a finger.

I suggest using our Large Display Stand for propping up your map. The pieces are pocketed deeply enough to stay in place while at a gentle angle.
